The Fenwick Island Lighthouse was first turned on August 1, 1859 by keeper John Smith after two years of construction and final cost of $23,784. It stands 82 1/2 feet high with a cast iron spiral stairway leading to the watch room and lamp room where the irreplaceable quartz prism is found!
